Faculty teaching in the MPPAL program are renowned scholars and practitioners with strengths in a number of areas, including public sector ethics, change management, labour relations, public sector finance, and constitutional and administrative law.

In addition to their excellence in teaching and research, many have significant public sector experience. Their real-world knowledge combined with challenging curricula ensures that students graduate ready to tackle some of today's toughest policy and administrative issues.

Daniel F. Cohn

Peter Constantinou

Richard Haigh

Constitutional and public law, including federalism and division of powers matters,Charter of Rights provisions, including freedom of conscience and religion, freedom of expression, and equality. Currently involved in a major project reviewing all legislation in Canada for direct discrimination provisions. Latest publications: articles on the use of division of powers jurisprudence to augment freedom of expression cases, freedom of conscience and whistle-blowing, and dialogue theory;  chapter in the recently published casebook, Public Law (Emond-Montgomery, 2015, 3rd ed., 2015).

The relationship between theories and practice – ideas about social issues and their policy implications, primarily in the areas of crime control such as wrongful convictions, moral regulation in Canadian anti-terror and anti-crime legislation, and food culture/food insecurity. Current projects: attitudes and policy shifts around food consumption and the forms of social awareness that have arisen as a reaction against the corporatization of food and eating practices.  Frankfurt School of Critical Theory, Anti-Patriarchy and the critique of domination these offer.
